The implementation of the National Education Policy 2010 formulated by the Ministry of Education of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh is one of the sincere and timely initiatives of Sylhet Arts College. I firmly believe that cultural practice is essential for building a disciplined, refined, tradition-conscious, and humane nation. The broad sphere of culture includes painting, music, recitation, drama, and various other creative forms of art that enrich the identity and values of a society.

For a long time, the divisional city of Sylhet lacked a complete institutional center for art and cultural education. In my opinion, the establishment of Sylhet Arts College has fulfilled that long-cherished dream and aspiration. There is no alternative to cultural development in advancing a nation comprehensively. Therefore, considering the needs of society and the demands of the time, the role of Sylhet Arts College is highly significant and commendable.

It is a matter of great pleasure that, alongside Fine Arts, several other academic and creative disciplines have now been incorporated into the institution. In 2024, we received approval from the Ministry of Education of the Government of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Technical Education Board. Through this recognition, we launched the “One-Year Certificate Course in Fine Arts” and the “One-Year Certificate Course in ICT,” marking an important milestone in the progress of the institution.

In addition, through Sylhet Art and Autism Foundation (Registration No. Syl-1268/15), we continue to conduct various creative and skill-based programs, including music and guitar courses. We are also working toward affiliation under the National University to introduce BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and B. Music degree programs in the near future.

I strongly believe that this institution will continue to move forward with greater success, dignity, and reputation in the years ahead, making a significant contribution to the development of arts and culture in Bangladesh. At the same time, it will play an important role in nurturing creativity, aesthetic values, and humanistic ideals among the younger generation.
